This addition/remodel for two artists started with a very small house on a large lot. A bar-shaped addition along one side of the lot added painting studios while leaving the a large yard open to the south and west light. Industrial materials such as the corrugated metal siding and simple, shed-like forms were used to allude to the live/work quality of the project and the original house was then remodeled to contain the living spaces and to integrate with the new addition.
